Thank you to the Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha, Bedford
The Warwick Laksh Programme has received a pledge for a donation of £2,000 from the Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha community organisation in Bedford.
Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha members work to meet the social and cultural needs of their local community, as well as actively supporting the relief of poverty and working towards the advancement of learning and education.
Their donation will support the delivery of the 2018 programme giving free extracurricular education to hundreds of learners in rural Indian communities. Professor Abhinay Muthoo, Warwick Laksh Programme Director said:
“We are so grateful to the committee of the Sri Guru Ravidass Sabha, Bedford, and the community for their generous support. In 2017, the Laksh Foundation opened a brand new teaching centre in the village of Sihori Khori, increasing their student numbers to over 1,000. This generous donation will enable us to send more Warwick volunteers in 2018. This will continue our mission to offer a sustainable route out of poverty through education for the young people of these rural communities.
The Warwick Laksh Programme is a collaboration between the Laksh Foundation, India and the University of Warwick. Each summer we send student volunteers travel to Haryana to mentor and coach trainee teachers, and deliver free extra curricular lessons to local children.
