IntoUniversity
The University of Warwick is proud to call the Midlands our home. That’s why we’ve partnered with IntoUniversity to fund two outreach centres; in the heart of Coventry and East Birmingham.
IntoUniversity offer a welcoming home-from-home for young people to learn, explore and succeed. Each local centre offers a programme including after-school study sessions and one to one mentoring. Young people aged seven and up can realise their ambitions, achieve their academic potential and develop vital skills.
2024 marked the fifth anniversary of the Coventry centre. Since opening, the team has supported over 4,000 young people from the local community. Over 400 students from the centre have gained a place at university.
In Spring 2025, Warwick and IntoUniversity joined forces with University College Birmingham to open a new learning centre in East Birmingham, a community where many residents face economic challenges. Around 43% of the city’s population lives in areas identified among the 10% most deprived nationally (Birmingham City Council, 2022), and Birmingham is one of twenty local authorities where financial hardship is more common (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2022). Notably, 43% of the city’s population lives in the 10% most deprived areas nationally (Birmingham City Council, 2022).
Since opening their doors, the Birmingham centre has already supported over 650 unique students – exceeding their target of 300, in less than a year.

Simran's story.
What started as a search for homework help soon turned into a life changing experience. The Coventry Centre offered a supportive environment and a range of support – from philosophy classes and photography clubs, to tutoring and funded visits to campus. Simran could imagine herself thriving in a university environment.
“When I first came to IntoUniversity, I could not have anticipated the level of support I would receive. I was getting more than just support with my homework; I began to realise that this was a place where people truly cared about me. It gave me the opportunity to grow in confidence and to share new experiences with people I can now call my friends. IntoUniversity feels like a family.” - Simran, Politics and International Studies.
