Introduction to Child Safeguarding, Thursday 28th October 2021, 10:00 - 11:30 BST.

Keeping Children Safe created the first International Child Safeguarding Standards in 2001, standards that are now recognised by the United Nations; European Commission; the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; and the United States Agency for International Development.

Now, Roméo Essou, a Keeping Children Safe team member with over 15 years’ experience in International Development, Education, and Child Rights, uses his profound knowledge of Africa to introduce child safeguarding in an international context.

  • Greater awareness of the environments in which children might be living, and the implications for safeguarding.
  • Understanding of what child abuse means in different countries and how local contexts influence safeguarding.

This event is ideal for anyone considering international volunteering or Warwick in Africa school placements, or for those with a general interest in child safeguarding.
