The Warwick-Hopkins PhD summer school on the Environmental Humanities

The Warwick-Hopkins PhD summer school on the Environmental Humanities is off to a great start! We’ve talked about the environment in Venetian Painting, the poetics of water, sources of materials for the Doge’s palace, storms in Tintoretto, changing lagunar settlements in Torcello, the environmental history of Venice with our colleagues at Ca’ Foscari, and much more! Today will involve a visit to the Lazzaretto Nuovo, an ecological walk on Sant’Erasmo, an exploration of the changing morphology of the lagoon, and a discussion of the past and future foodways of the Venetian lagoon.
