Monash Warwick Alliance

Formed in 2012, for over 10 years the research powerhouses of Monash University, Melbourne, Australia and Warwick have navigated a successful partnership, focusing on high impact research and developing international leaders and expertise for the future.

There are funds available to support researchers, educators and students. They have been designed to support you at every level of your collaboration, whether it's establishing new links or advancing existing collaborations. There are two rounds of funding available every year with deadlines in Autumn and Spring.


Education Fund

The Education Fund is there to support you to collaborate with Monash colleagues on a project to further internationalise our teaching and learning.

Activation Fund

The Activation Fund is designed for you to work with Monash colleagues to kickstart a research idea or boost an existing collaboration. We will support you to combine your complementary expertise to deliver greater impact.

PhD Travel Grant

The PhD Travel Grant is a fantastic opportunity to connect with academics and fellow research students across the globe. The Scheme is open to PhD students at Warwick to visit Monash for up to 10 weeks.

Stellenbosch-Warwick Joint Seed Fund

The Stellenbosch-Warwick Joint Seed Fund is designed to flexibly support Stellenbosch and Warwick researchers and professional service staff to establish new links and advance existing collaborations, by enabling activities such as:

  • Organisation of virtual, hybrid or in-person workshops, conferences, symposia;
  • Preliminary research, experiments and pilot studies;
  • Meetings to facilitate planning and development of external funding proposals;
  • Reciprocal or non-reciprocal visits to establish new collaborations

SJTU-Warwick Joint Seed Fund

The SJTU-Warwick Joint Seed Fund has been established with the specific intention to foster new initiatives with high potential for global impact that combine complementary aspects of each institution towards novel research outcomes.

The collaboration between colleagues at SJTU and at Warwick is intended to support and lead to:

  • Virtual activities in the first instance, and up to one visit to Warwick and one visit to SJTU by staff/research students if required;
  • The submission of at least one joint co-authored publication (or equivalent output);
  • Targeting a suitable scheme for the submission of a joint application for external funding.

International Partnership Fund

The University’s International Partnership Fund (IPF) aims to strengthen or initiate exchange between Warwick academics and their counterparts from leading international universities or institutes by enabling them to jointly undertake preliminary research, organise meetings, conferences, or workshops.
