Welcoming Sponsors and Scholars
The International Strategy and Relations team manages the University's externally funded international scholarships.
We partner with external organisations such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, foreign embassies and governments, employers, foundations and other bodies who provide funding to support the best, brightest and most diverse international students from around the world to study at Warwick.
The impact of scholarship
We have strong cross-cultural relationships with a number of foundations and organisations. Our scholars drive global change and below are a few examples.
British Council funded Women in STEM
We asked four Women in STEM climate scientists, from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, to share their experience of sponsorship.
The best and brightest
Youth leader, activist, changemaker, Tedx Speaker, social entrepreneur and Warwick undergraduate, Sana Mittar, welcomed scholars at Albukhary Foundation event.

Anittah's Journey of Discovery and Community
Anittah Owomugisha (MSc Engineering Business Management, 2023) a Chevening scholar now working as an Electrical Design Engineer at SSE plc, shares her journey, shaped by the supportive Warwick community and the Warwick connections, from faculty to peers, that played a pivotal role in propelling the start of her career.
Women in STEM - Sponsor engagement
Discover how the British Council launched its Women in STEM scholarship programme to help support women like Maria Farooq (a climate scientist from Pakistan) pursue her life long ambitions.
Working with sponsors
We oversee over 1,000 sponsored students funded by over 100 different international funding organisations. To support sponsors these organisations who are funding individuals and large groups to study at Warwick we offer:
- A named first point of contact for all liaison
- Academic progress reporting on an annual or termly basis
- Bespoke incoming visits to campus
- Dedicated events for partner sponsors and their scholars

Engage with us
We coordinate bids to generate additional funding opportunities for current and prospective students.
We meet with sponsors on campus, as well as attend meetings and events based in the UK and overseas. We arrange welcome events and celebrate the achievements of the scholars.
