Professor Stuart Croft welcomed His Excellency Ravshan Usmanov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan

During their visit, the delegation toured the world-class facilities offered in Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG); learnt about cutting-edge sustainability research and training offered by the Institute for Global Sustainable Development (IGSD); discussed teacher-training and intercultural training for students and professionals with the School of Education, Learning and Communication Sciences (SELCS); and explored opportunities in hospitality education with our partners, the University College Birmingham. The Ambassador welcomed an opportunity to hear first-hand from Uzbek students studying at Warwick.

The visit took place at the time when Uzbekistan and the UK are set to increase engagement and co-operation on a number of global priorities, such as open and stable international order, security, and climate change. During a recent visit to Central Asia, the UK Foreign Secretary announced a doubling of funding for Chevening scholars and a push to bolster English language skills and increase access to British Council resources.
