Warwick in North America

The US and Canada are two research and education powerhouses: there have been 426 North American Nobel prize winners to date and North America hosts over half the world’s top 50 universities. The US is the number one choice for co-authorship for UK researchers, and joint publications have a citation impact 2.75 times greater than the global average. In 2019, Canada’s 223 universities enrolled almost 280,000 international students, making it the 6th most popular destination for students choosing to study a degree abroad.

Our academics work closely with counterparts in leading higher education institutions, industry partners and funding bodies across North America on a wide variety of projects in both research and education. We also aspire to attract the best and most talented international students and are pleased to welcome over 100 students from North America every year.

At Warwick we are looking to expand our relationships and collaborations with leading institutions across North America. Below are just a few examples of our partnerships and initiatives.

University of Waterloo

We have a long-standing partnership with Waterloo University including joint research, student exchange and a double degree with the Balsillie School of International Affairs. The latest collaboration is between Esports experts and will see the two universities share best practice and collaborate on research and curriculum design.

Duke University

Warwick’s Criminal Justice Centre and Law School, is working in collaboration with Duke, North Carolina, Basel and Bologna to deliver a series of conferences, the latest of which, "The McDonaldization of justice and the disappearance of fair trial?" was hosted at Warwick earlier this year with speakers from Duke, University of Toronto and UNC.

University of Toronto and Cornell University

Students from the Universities of Toronto and Cornell have joined counterparts from Warwick, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Hong Kong in TeamWork, a virtual international experience programme. Taking place over four weeks, teams of eight students collaborate on a specific project set by an organisation, requiring them to develop communication and team work skills and cultural awareness.
