Beatriz Lagunas

School of Life Sciences

With no budget, limited workload allocation, and no formal time for her responsibilities as Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) co-lead, Beatriz nonetheless dedicates time to advancing meaningful inclusion across Life Sciences.

She independently conceives, develops, and delivers initiatives through sustained personal commitment.

Her influence is already reshaping the culture within Life Sciences. Through skilled interpersonal engagement and collaboration across the University, she is driving a slow but significant shift in how EDI is understood and enacted.

Widely recognised as inspiring and motivating, Beatriz strengthens Warwick’s commitment to fairness, belonging, and inclusion for current and future generations.

Chiara Croff

Warwick Venice Centre

Chiara goes above and beyond every single day, playing an indispensable role in the success of the Warwick Venice Centre. Her deep knowledge of the city, exceptional organisational skill, and unwavering commitment make sure the Centre can function smoothly for all staff, students, and visiting partners.

She supports teaching, research, and events with remarkable generosity and is praised for her positivity, patience, and solutions-focused approach. Her strategic insight also shapes the Centre’s long‑term development, from expanding research facilities to improving student experience.

Chiara's work not only sustains operational excellence but also strengthens Warwick’s reputation and community presence in Venice.

Claudia Griffin

Mathematics Institute

Part of Claudia’s role is to deliver a daily tea and coffee service to the Mathematics Department, a regular occurrence which creates an opportunity for colleagues to step away from their desks – allowing team members to discuss their work and enabling academics to talk about their research in an informal setting. This contributes to the welcoming sense within the wider department.

One colleague said of Claudia: “I can personally point to many occasions where [Claudia] offers a fresh perspective. She creates connections. She is well-connected with professional services staff across the University [and] has introduced me to colleagues I might never otherwise have had the chance to speak to… she makes me proud to be part of the Warwick community.”
