Where to even start! Megan is one of the hardest workers I've ever met. She invests her time, energy and talent into every project she works on. She is hugely experienced in her role, but also well-versed in Warwick culture, and well connected with wider departments. Megan takes that knowledge and pulls everyone together to pull off projects at scale. She also goes out of her way to share that knowledge and expertise with others. Aside from how great she is at her job, she is one of the kindest, funniest colleagues and a truly fantastic person to work with.

Although this could be intimidating, Natalie is consistently generous with this gift, using it to support, elevate, and inspire those around her. Not to put too fine a point on it: Natalie is the best manager I have ever had, and I continue to grow and learn from her. Natalie's combination of vision, integrity, and kindness exemplifies the very best of Warwick.

These women have been, and continue to be, on a journey of discovery. Over the past three years they have carefully crafted, overcome challenges and been willing to accept different responsibilities. They've all undertaken these changes with tenacity and agility; they work seamlessly together, in that brilliantly cohesive way, that is infectious. They are strong; they are resilient and they tackle each new project with a smile. Its a considerable privilege to work with these women; it makes being together a 'look forward to'. Lucy is one of those people who anyone would want on their team - she is smart, funny, has an encyclopaedic knowledge of policy and curriculum, and is a genuinely amazing woman to work with. Having worked with Lucy for many years now, I am always impressed with how someone can be so incredibly competent and also so much fun to be around - she is always smiling, always friendly and when you need support - she is there. We are very lucky to have you, Lucy and I hope you know what an fantastic person you are!

Widening Participation

The women of the Widening Participation team at Warwick are truly exceptional. Comments about the team (including of course the wonderful male collagues) frequently centre around the warmth and openness that creates an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued. These brilliant women combine deep knowledge of education and access with a genuine passion for supporting students who might not otherwise see university as a place for them. Their commitment to social justice is clear in everything they do: they are laser-focused on reducing inequality and widening opportunity for people from all backgrounds. What makes the team especially remarkable is how they balance professionalism with personality. They are incredibly organised and consistently helpful, making complex programmes run smoothly while always having time to listen and support others. At the same time, they are social, approachable and funny, bringing energy and positivity to their work. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s obvious they care deeply about the impact they make. Simply put, they make Warwick a more inclusive, supportive and inspiring place for everyone.

An exceptionally talented team! Hilary is one of the funniest people I know (and an insanely talented artist). She is also kindness personified. When I'm feeling tired or a bit run down, I know I can go to internal comms team and they never fail to make me feel happier - I adore their sense of the random, which sits alongside utter professionalism. Plus they do all of this whilst keeping the organisation informed, winning award after award for their creativity and innovation in internal comms. Don't get me started on how beyond amazing the various Winter at Warwick, Spring at Warwick items have been, or how excellent Sarah's copy editing skills are, or Charlotte's amazing wardrobe and Sophie's fantastic baking, or.... or... or! I am happy to keep them supplied with helium balloons to celebrate their excellence forever!

For International Women’s Day, I would like to give a shout out to Louise Carley-Read, a Business Change Manager in Warwick’s Information and Digital Group who is currently contributing to the STEM Connect programme. Louise is genuinely a breath of fresh air on campus. She brings a positive, non-judgemental attitude to everything she does and is always willing to look at how things can be improved for colleagues and students. What I admire most is that she never criticises something without immediately asking what we can do together to make it better. She also has a remarkable way of looking out for the people around her. Whether it is checking in with someone who seems a little weary in a meeting, or offering a few spontaneous words of encouragement, she creates a positive environment wherever she works. Quite simply, every space she operates in becomes a place people enjoy being part of. Louise also goes far beyond the boundaries of her formal role. Rather than limiting herself to assigned tasks, she actively looks for ways to make things better across the university. One example is her work helping Warwick run a pilot cohort of a new apprenticeship, where she has been supporting participants and helping connect them with projects that both strengthen their portfolios and deliver real value for the campus community. I have only had the pleasure of working with Louise for around six months, but they have been an absolute joy. Warwick is a better place because of people like her, and we could definitely do with a few more Louises on campus.

Susan plays a vital role behind the scenes in Student Opportunity. While her work is not always visible, it is often the driving force that helps ideas come to life. She is one of those people who quietly makes things happen, ensuring projects run smoothly and that colleagues have the tools and support they need to succeed. Much of Susan’s contribution goes unnoticed, yet her impact is significant. She brings creativity and technical expertise to digital projects, supporting initiatives such as podcasts, webinars and new ways of communicating through online platforms. She is always exploring innovative approaches, including using AI to create engaging video content for YouTube and other digital channels. What I truly appreciate about Susan is her calm and supportive nature. I can approach her with any question and she never judges. Instead, she explains things clearly and patiently, making even complex digital tools feel accessible. Her bubbly personality and quiet dedication make a real difference to those around her. Although she often works behind the scenes, her contributions play an essential role in supporting colleagues and strengthening the wider university community.

In particular, the Degree Apprenticeship programmes within the School of Engineering could not happen without Gabrielle's skill, organisation, care and dedication. She is responsible for taking care of the new starters in RIS and she always goes above and beyond with her kindly approach and care she takes of them. She was one of the first people I met on my own induction and I remember her putting me at ease and making me feel so welcome. She always has time for the staff in RIS and there is never a laptop cable or charger she can't find! Whether she's booking conference rooms, arranging interviews and meetings, inducting new staff or filling the printer, there's not a single thing this woman can't do!

I would like to nominate the Volunteer Officers within the DAE team—Laura, Cathy, Hayley, Simran and Alex —as part of Women of Warwick for International Women’s Day. The team formed two years ago and has continued to grow in both strength and collaboration. Throughout this time, they have supported one another, sharing ideas, offering help when needed, and approaching their work with generosity and consideration. What stands out is the professional, supportive environment they have as a team—one where collaboration feels natural and everyone is encouraged to contribute. They bring patience, thoughtfulness and a calm, practical approach to their work. They collaborate constructively, showing a clear willingness to problem solve and approaching their roles with both commitment and good humour. The Cancer Trials Team at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit are the most dedicated and fun group of people you could meet. They have to liaise with clinical centres who are recruiting patients into our trials and often have to chase up the clinical staff for information about treatments and outcomes for these patients. They have great communication skills, always ready to answer questions and educate centres in the trial processes. In a recent survey the clinical centres praised the trial teams for being quick to answer questions and always being helpful. We have several patients who work closely with us to help the trials be successful. These independent patients call the cancer trials team the 'A-team'. Keep up the good work and thank you team for making our trials successful as well as making Warwick Clinical Trials Unit a great place to work.

The cleaning team's contribution to keeping the department running is often overlooked; but quite simply it would not function without them. From cleaning offices and tidying the kitchen to stepping in when there are leaks or other building issues - they support us in many ways so that we can get on with work. Claire Nicholls is a phenomenal person and this is reflected in how she manages, coaches and supports degree apprentices, including the Warwick Graduate Scheme. Claire will not only take the time but willingly give the time you need to feel supported through the challenging times as well as celebrating the brilliant times. Claire is someone who will see what see can do to make things possible, doing this honestly and authentically. Claire is someone to admire and who does inspire. I feel incredibly grateful to have her as my manager, an advocate and someone who deserves to be recognised for the truly human approach she takes. Thank you Claire for modelling what it means to be a good manager. Someone who colleagues can turn to as well as collaborate and celebrate with. Your thoughtfulness, kindness and strength are valued and very much reflected in everything you do.

Adele exemplifies the kind of authentic, grounded leadership that genuinely elevates the people around her. What makes her stand out is not just her deep expertise and calm command of complex work, but the refreshing honesty and humanity she brings to every interaction. She creates an environment where people feel comfortable being themselves because she leads with openness—willing to share her own experiences, including the imperfect moments that many leaders might shy away from. When she hasn’t had the chance to read something, she simply says so; when she doesn’t know something, she admits it without hesitation. That transparency is disarming in the best possible way, fostering trust, psychological safety, and a culture where learning and collaboration feel natural rather than performative.

At the same time, Adele is exceptionally good at what she does. Watching her balance fairness, clarity, and strategic insight is incredibly inspiring. She recognises the dynamics at play, navigates them with integrity, and models what it looks like to lead with both strength and humility. Adele’s influence is felt not just in decisions made, but in the confidence and ease she instils in others. She is, quite simply, a remarkable leader.

Michelle is outstanding in her role, but what truly sets her apart is her kindness and willingness to support our teams. Much of her work happens behind the scenes, yet it is crucial in keeping our busy teams running smoothly. It would be easy to underestimate her contribution, and I am sincerely grateful for her efforts. She is a pleasure to work with.

Rachel has been an inspiration and a role model over the years and a kind and supportive supervisor and colleague. She supported me through three maternity leaves, making sure I can go back to exciting research projects. Thanks to her, I was able to fulfil my dream and build an academic career. I keep learning from her how to be a good supervisor and colleague, and how to juggle many commitments and not go mad in the process!

Katy has been such an incredible support to me throughout my career at Warwick, and I know I'm not alone. She is so passionate about what she does and has made such an impact on so many people's careers through her work on the Internship and KTP programme. I love her no nonsense style, her quick thinking and her exceptional capacity to just get things done. She is always such a champion and cheerleader for other women, organising brilliant events focused on the female engineers at WMG and being an active participant on the ED&I committee. She is a brilliant example of a woman who has climbed the ladder and then used her new position and influence to help bring others up with her. She is one of a kind and I'm excited to see what the future holds for this unstoppable woman!

Olivia is such a fountain of knowledge and is always so helpful at explaining complex processes or systems to the newer members of the team. She covers so many projects, WHILST studying to do an apprenticeship AND looking after her little girl solo quite a bit as her partner often works away and yet she's always willing to help and talk you through things. She is definitely a wonderful woman so I'd love to celebrate her this IWD!

I would like to recognise Rachel Davis for her outstanding support and guidance over the past six months. In her role as a coach, she has consistently demonstrated professionalism, clarity of thought, and a strong commitment to personal development.

Rachel is an excellent listener, able to distil complex issues into practical next steps. Her balanced approach, combining insight, constructive challenge, and solution‑focused thinking, has made our sessions consistently valuable. She provides a space for reflection while also driving progress, and her ability to identify opportunities for improvement has been especially impactful.

Emma is an absolute force of life and Warwick is so lucky to have her. She constantly goes above and beyond, both for the business and her team. She is always striving to make things better and no matter how big or small the problem, she is always happy to help. She is such a valuable member of the team that people come to for support with solutions and no matter how busy, she is always there to listen and understand how we can improve the situation. As well as being a fantastic colleague, she is also just a wonderful person to work with and is often making people laugh in the office!

I'm sure that everyone will be happy to have such amazing LM as Charlotte. She always supported me and now I understand how important and useful her advice is. She is great example for me of a wise, confident and gifted Manager who is able not only to manage her direct reports in a right way, but also make sure that they're feeling well no matter how busy they are.

I worked with her for 6 months in 2025 as Careers Plus and Employer Relations Coordinator and found that she is amazing woman who I'd like to follow.

Charlotte always supported me when I felt too emotional and provided the required support to make sure my work at WBS will be useful investment into my future career.

I'm part of WMG now with interesting and inspiring colleagues, but Charlotte's advice and her bright smile are a compass for me no matter in which project or task I'm involved in.

P.S. I loved flowers that she bought on my last day, still don't know how she knew that they're my favourite.

Danielle gave me necessary guidance and strength to find the required confidence in myself. Last few years were quite challenging for me, so ideas and thoughts that she shared with me on a daily basis were really helpful to gain necessary self-confidence as well as set professional and personal goals correctly.

Debbie inspired me to start running and it helps me a lot during such busy life. Also her example shows that we have no limits if we work hard and know our goals. She always finds time for running and it inspires her a lot, so I'm glad to know such a great woman.

Talent and Development

Claire is an inspiring leader whose positive and uplifting demeanour motivates me every day. Her work has successfully positioned UOW on the Russell Group webpages, where her achievements have been shared in relation to apprenticeships. Through her leadership, staff now have access to 36 different apprenticeship opportunities. I am truly grateful to work with Claire, and her positive, “can-do” attitude is both impressive and infectious.

Kusum is an amazing mix of kind, efficient and creative. We were so lucky to have Kusum join our team last year after graduating from Warwick (whilst previously working at Warwick Innovation District as an Innovation Fellow) and she has absolutely hit the ground running. In her short time here she has set up so many brilliant processes, she is always full of fantastic ideas to help improve how we do things and she is always there to support her team mates - whether it's an extra pair of hands for an event or building reports for our KPIs. She is an incredible woman who I feel super lucky to work with, would love to recognise all her hard work this IWD!
