Location: Room M2 WBS Training Centre

The Law School invites you to the following Public Lecture on Wednesday 2nd May 2018, 5:00pm – 6:00pm, Room M2 WBS Training Centre, University of Warwick.

‘Central Clearing of Financial Contracts: Should Regulators Expand its Scope?’

Professor Steven L. Schwarcz, Duke University

Abstract: Prof Schwarcz, the Stanley A. Star Professor of Law & Business at Duke University, will explain why central clearing of derivatives contracts can protect stability by reducing counterparty risk. He then will discuss the regulatory implications for deciding whether to extend central clearing to non-derivative contracts involving systemically important counterparties. The decision is important because the aggregate monetary exposure on non-derivative contracts greatly exceeds that on derivatives contracts.

Please register your interest to attend at law.events@warwick.ac.uk

There will be a drinks reception after the event from 6:00pm.

Best Wishes,

Sandra Phillips
