Business Networking Event Vol. 3 'Sustainability'

- Export as iCalendar
Location: The climb, Junction Building.

Meet like-minded individuals and professionals from across our network to discuss innovation, business challenges and solutions, and the SME and start-up environment. It's an opportunity to broaden your connections and have interesting and meaningful discussions with people who can help with your business challenges. Hear from industry experts and gain insights into new topics.

This month our event will have a sustainability focus with content from Ewen Anderson of Px3 and David Chapman, our University of Warwick Sustainability Champion.

Px3 is an “Ignite” start-up based in the Innovation Centre, Px3’s unique proposition is based on PhD research jointly overseen by Warwick University Computer Science Department and Warwick Business School.

Px3 provides IT sustainability consultancy to many of the UK’s best known public, private and not-for-profit organisations, with Microsoft and Google among its many technology sector customers. Px3 research was included in the UK Government’s Greening ICT strategy after the company became the first to calculate the carbon footprint and potential for cost and carbon savings across an entire national government.

In this session Px3 CIO and co-founder Ewen Anderson will explore the underlying issues around sustainability and share a five point action plan which organisations of any size can use to understand and reduce their carbon footprint.

Included in the session will be links to free tools and resources as well as practical advice on carbon-reduction planning.

David Chapman, Sustainability Champion will discuss Warwick's journey to becoming sustainable. We are determined that our research, our curriculum and how we operate make a positive impact in the world. Our sustainability strategy – Way To Sustainable – sets out the path that we are all on together.

The University of Warwick is playing its part in tackling the climate emergency. Building on our existing research and education programmes and our connections to industry and society, we’re focusing on The Way to Sustainable – the real-life implications of creating a sustainable future and the practical challenges of getting there.

Refreshments will be provided.
