Beijing To London Olympic Handover

The Coventry and Warwickshire 2012 Partnership invites you to join in an afternoon of celebrations in honour of the Olympic Handover.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012 will be held in Britain for the first time since 1948. To celebrate this prestigious event, the City of Coventry is hosting a free programme of activities, open to all and not to be missed.

Gather with friends and family to witness the Beijing closing ceremony and the 2:30pm Handover from Beijing to London broadcast live in University Square.

Celebrate Coventry’s Olympic heritage and learn how Coventry and Warwickshire will play a fundamental part in the 2012 games over the next four years.

Sporting enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to meet Olympic and Paralympic legends from Coventry and Warwickshire and participate in Olympic sports. There is no need to register, and the event is free to everyone.

Highlights Include:

2pm – Parade of the Coventry & Warwickshire Olympic and Paralympic Legends

2:30pm – Live handover of Beijing 2008 flag to London 2012 on our big screen

3pm – 'Sing Coventry' – a 30 strong choir will perform a short selection of songs

3:15pm – 'Imagination: our Nation' – Carnival/Theatre performance by Coventry based Imagineer to celebrate the 2012 Cultural Olympiad
