CEELBAS Seminar: Yoram Gorlizki

The Centre for East European Language Based Area Studies (CEELBAS) Midlands Russia Seminar will meet next at the Institute of Advanced Study, Milburn House at 5pm on Wednesday 2 December 2009.

Yoram Gorlizki of the Department of Government in Manchester will speak at the seminar. The title is "Too Much Trust: Regional Party Leaders and Political Networks under Brezhnev"

A leading British political scientist, in recent years Yoram Gorlizki has led an ESRC-funded programme for large-scale collaborative research with Russian historians on Soviet regional networks in a social science framework. This paper is one of the main results. It should appeal to anyone working in history and the full range of social science disciplines from politics and economics to sociology and law. Gorlizki is an excellent speaker and his paper has prompted animated discussion wherever it has been presented.

The seminar itself is free, but refreshments will provided afterwards for a small charge. To assist with catering arrangements, please send a message in advance to Rosalind Lucas at the Institute of Advanced Study if you plan to attend. Everyone is welcome.
