Planning for the 2021-22 academic year
We are looking ahead to teaching and student experience for the new academic year 2021-22, and can now share our planning assumptions.
We will continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of students and staff. We expect that restrictions on face-to-face activities will remain, and that our approach will need to be flexible in case of changes in Government guidelines.
Teaching and assessment
We will continue to offer blended learning and ask departments to maximise the proportion of face-to-face – to aim for 75% in smaller group teaching where possible. This model is intended to enable students to develop a flexible skillset and mindset where they both engage in their studies and succeed in the agile and increasingly digital-first environment they’ll encounter after graduation.
We expect all lectures with 50 or more students to take place online.
The maximum group size for teaching will be raised from 25 to 50, where rooms can safely accommodate the increased numbers with appropriate social distancing.
Online assessment will continue to be the preferred approach, subject to review as part of the next Institutional Teaching and Learning Review.
You can find full details for staff on the teaching resources web pages.
Safety and support
We’ll continue to offer a wide range of provision to help staff and students feel safe and supported – including support for students encountering issues such as health concerns and self-isolation as a result of the pandemic.
We plan to continue offering lateral flow testing at our on-campus test site throughout Autumn.
Campus experience
In line with wider Government guidance, we expect to see entertainment and retail outlets open on campus – including Warwick Arts Centre, which is preparing for reopening after transformation during lockdown.
