Our video series ‘60 Seconds with…’ offers a glimpse into the brilliant work happening across the University, spotlighting the people in our community who work together to make Warwick special.
Listen to Dalma, from the Energy and Sustainability team, as she reflects on her work at the University, and how engaging our community with nature can inspire people to protect the environment.
Dalma Zsalako: "We are blessed here at the University of Warwick to have such a large green campus. A quiet spot is never far away to have a peaceful, relaxing moment away from the demands of work and study and everyday problems.
I've only been at the University for just over a year, but it has been an absolutely amazing experience so far. I love that I can use a lot of different skills in my job, and I really enjoy doing species surveys because surprises are still possible.
Those who come to my events are always very excited about nature, very enthusiastic, and it's just really lovely to see their faces as they listen. And then I get a lot of feedback from people saying that they felt so inspired that they decided to volunteer with a local group or contribute to citizen science projects, or go on litter picks with their families in their spare time.
So that's what we are trying to achieve—to inspire people to contribute to helping the planet."
