University House re-opens Monday 4 September

Good news – University House is open from Monday 4 September.

The Estates and IDG teams have worked incredibly hard this week and the damage caused by the serious leak, from the clean water system, at University House has largely been cleared up. The building will be operational and can be occupied as usual from Monday.

There are a small number of areas that are still impacted on the ground floor – the cash office, community safety office, and the cafĂ© seating area. The work to clear up these areas will continue over the next week, and they will be accessible as soon as possible.

We encourage staff to work from home, if feasible, for the remainder of this week (29 August - 1 September). The clean-up process will still be underway, but for those who need to come in, the north side of the building will be open. University House reception can assist in finding available desk spaces either within University House or elsewhere on campus.

Thank you for your support and co-operation this week. It has been very much appreciated and has enabled the teams working to fix the damage caused to do so in a quick and effective manner.

For colleagues who work in the Education, Finance and MCI offices.

The office that you work in was one of the affected areas and you may notice that equipment and furniture has been moved, the teams have done their best to put these back where they came from.

In the case that you find that anything is missing or is not working, please log it through the appropriate channels:

  • For any issues with telecoms, screens, docking stations or other IT equipment, please contact IT help desk on 02476 573737
  • For any furniture, chairs or missing items, please contact Estates service desk on 024 76 575 100

There will be Estates support in the building on Monday until 10am, to provide any assistance.
