Campus internet outage 24 January – update

As staff and students will be aware, the University experienced an IT outage on 24 January that prevented people being able to access the internet. The duration of the outage was 2.5 hours, but many people were affected for longer.

The cause was what should have been a minor change to a part of the University’s IT systems, which had unforeseen effects on wider functionality. The ITS team is working with teams across the University to prevent the same issue happening again, and the system is functioning effectively again now.

IT Services apologise for the disruption many people experienced during this rare outage, and thank you for your patience during this period.
