Celebrating a summer of teamwork and transformation

In her blog, Wendy Roberts, Interim Director of Estates, highlights the excellent work of our Estates colleagues as they prepared the campus for the start of the new academic year.

As we begin the new academic year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work that’s taken place over the summer and to share my appreciation with colleagues across the University.

Summer is a crucial time for our Estates teams, and this year they’ve been even busier than usual. From essential repairs and improvements, to preparing our spaces for the arrival of new students, their efforts have helped to make sure our campus is welcoming, safe and ready for the year ahead.

Every Estates team has gone above and beyond this summer – here’s just a snapshot of some incredible statistics about work by just one of those teams, Maintenance.

This year’s arrivals week was a real highlight. The campus looked fantastic, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and that's thanks not only to the hard work of Estates, but also to the collaboration and support from colleagues across the University. Whether you were directly involved or played a supporting role, your contribution helped create a positive first impression for our students and their families.

Delivering such a large-scale operation takes planning, coordination, and a shared commitment to excellence. It was a true team effort, and the smiles we saw during arrivals were a testament to that.

To everyone who played a part, thank you. Your dedication and teamwork make a real difference, and I’m proud to work alongside you as we embark on another exciting academic year.
