Warwick presented with China Employability Award

In recognition of Warwick’s contribution to supporting international student employability, Warwick has been presented with the award for Best Partner University in the World by Nu Skin, a leading Chinese employer.

Professor Lawrence Young, Vice-President (China), said:

Warwick academics have long had strong research and teaching links with their Chinese counterparts. This award recognises our work and dedication to support students to prepare and take advantage of the wide-ranging employment opportunities in this region.”

Jiffer Chou, Director, NU SKIN Greater China, said:

I always enjoy working with Warwick and we are hiring more and more of your students every year, both for interns and our graduate roles. I would like to thank the work of Warwick’s international employer team - for all your enthusiasm and support on international & China recruitment.”

Warwick was given the award during the Warwick China and Asia Pacific Careers Fair held at the Shard for students, just before the beginning of the autumn term 2017. The Fair involved 15 employers, several of whom had flown in from China specifically for the event, and offered students valuable opportunities to meet and network with a range of graduate recruiters from the Asia Pacific region.

This is the second time Warwick has organised this fair and this year Warwick’s International Employer Team helped students to prepare for the fair by developing an online four-week careers course, delivered using WeChat. This is the first time this technology has been used to support student learning at Warwick and it achieved excellent outcomes for both students and employers.

The China and Asia Pacific Careers Fair comes after a very successful employer liaison visit carried out in mid-September to Hong Kong, where the Warwick team met with over 20 leading graduate employers and launched the Warwick Global Recruiters Club to target organisations.

Upcoming China-related employability initiatives include:

  • the Warwick-led UK University China Careers Fair, in partnership with Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Lancaster and Aston universities, which will be held in the Oculus Building on 3 March 2018 and will feature 30 Chinese organisations.
  • a Careers Fair in Shanghai on 23 March 2018 in partnership with Birmingham and Nottingham universities.

Thank you for providing overseas students with such a good opportunity – I can’t wait for the next careers fair!”
