50 top wheelchair racers at Warwick track Saturday 24 August

hannahSaturday is the ‘Coventry Open’ at the Warwick track, attracting 50 top wheelchair racers from across the UK.

Entries include Coventry ‘fresher’ student Hannah Cockroft, the double Paralympic, World Champion and World Record Holder, who joins her new training partners at the University of Warwick Wheelchair Racing Academy.

One of those representing Coventry Godiva Harriers is 7 year old Toby Sweeney-Croft who makes his race debut after being inspired to start wheelchair racing following London 2012 and also 12 year old Kare Adenegan (Bablake School) who joins her Paralympic idol Hannah in the line-ups.

Building on the pre-Paralympic Games event in 2012, the competition now includes events for local sprinters and race walkers, combined with evening British Milers Club competition for endurance athletes. All of the races are electronically timed with photo finish, and with the super-fast Mondo track surface is an ideal platform for end-of-season personal bests!

The competition starts at 2pm, with sprints 2 – 5pm and endurance events from 5 – 7.30pm.
