Help to create Coventry FabLab

You can contribute to the creation of a fantastic new local resource, Coventry FabLab, which will use advanced manufacturing to give local people the power to create "almost anything". Get involved by taking part in an event in Coventry on 26 October 2015.

A FabLabCoventry FabLab (fabrication laboratory) will be a small-scale workshop equipped with an array of flexible manual and computer controlled tools, offering fabrication to anyone.

The aim is to encourage local people to become more technically skilled, in an environment that is fun, well equipped, geared for self-paced learning, and open to everyone, regardless of income or educational background.

Ken Sloan, Registrar and Chief Operating Officer – and current Chair of the Coventry Partnership – said:

The University is always keen to support initiatives that help to develop the skills of local people, and promote innovation and manufacturing, which is why we are one of the partners in this new FabLab for Coventry. I encourage any member of the University community who is interested in helping to create the FabLab to attend and see what they may both contribute and gain from this event."
