David Lamburn appointed as Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education)

In this new role, David will work closely with Professor Chris Hughes, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), to lead our academic governance and quality assurance arrangements to ensure high quality and standards continue to be developed and upheld in support of our overall student experience.

An historian by background, David has served at Warwick in a variety of capacities since 2005, including as Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning, Chair of the Quality Enhancement Working Group, Chair of the Collaborative Committee and Chair of the Quality Assurance Working Group. He has been closely associated with teaching quality assurance and enhancement work for some time. He led significant reviews of academic departments leading to changes to institutional policy and practice, and led preparations for the highly successful QAA Institutional Review in 2013. He has been a member of a variety of University committees, including the Academic Quality and Standards Committee and Academic Resourcing Committee, and he has been a QAA Institutional Auditor and Reviewer since 2009, and served on QAA Appeals Panels and Advisory Groups.

David said:

I am greatly looking forward to the challenges of the new role and working with staff and students alike to ensure that Warwick continues to be recognised as providing a rich and stimulating intellectual environment.”

Welcoming David's appointment, Chris Hughes said:

David has been a key member of Warwick's teaching quality endeavours for some time. I warmly welcome his new appointment given the many and varied changes in the national quality assurance landscape and the challenges these pose for us institutionally. This is an exciting time for our strategy for education at Warwick, where we are making significant investment through David’s expertise, through the appointment of new Academic Directors and the development of a new Education Executive to ensure that we continue to remain at the very forefront of excellence in teaching and learning.”
