Warning over sophisticated fraudulent email

Other UK universities have recently been targeted by a particularly sophisticated phishing email, intended to trick people into submitting their username and password details to criminal groups. This new string of attacks is a little smarter than the usual, appearing to come from genuine helpdesk email addresses, and linking through to sites that look like they belong to the university being targeted. Though Warwick has not yet been targeted, we may well be in the near future.

Warwick IT Services will never ask you for your username and password. If you receive an email claiming to be from our IT Help Desk and asking you for this information, it's a hoax and you shouldn't reply or follow any links included.
