Council receives progress report on implementation plan

Following an update at the University Council meeting on 12 February 2020, where members received a quarterly update on the progress against the implementation plan, we have published our second progress report.

Since the beginning of the academic year, the focus of the implementation working group has moved onto longer-term actions. Key areas of progress include:

  • The new student sexual misconduct process and policy are being used for student discipline cases. The Student Liaison Officers (SLOs) have been supporting both reporting and responding parties and have developed a standard operating process working with other key stakeholders (Residential Life team, Wellbeing, ISVA, SU and personal tutors).
  • Awareness of app-enabled Report + Support tool has increased over terms 1 and 2. We’ve been signposting and raising awareness of the reporting tool and other support services available
  • Team structure is now in place with Director of Student Discipline and Resolution (Helen Knee) appointed
  • Everyone involved in student sexual misconduct discipline cases has completed the identified training (Chairs, panel members, Investigating Officers, Discipline team, SLOs, Permanent secretariat)
  • All first responders have attended briefing sessions and completed training (Security, Residential Life Team, Personal Tutor and student society networks) and Academic departments
  • Developing ‘This is Warwick’ campaign to raise awareness and understanding of our principles
  • Students and staff have worked with the University to develop active bystander programmes via the community education programme and academic departments respectively
  • Working with other HEIs to build networks in order to share best practice (#combatmisconduct and West Midlands communities of practice)
