International Development photo competition deadline

grpApplicants have until the 31 August to submit their enteries for the Global Research Priority on International Development photo competition.

Scholars from across Warwick are questioning how international development is enacted with a view to challenging its practice and improving outcomes. In recognition of the importance imagery plays in communicating knowledge, values and ideological perspectives and, thus, structuring our understanding of the world, GRP-ID is running a photography competition.

It is intended that entries will revisit how international development is being manufactured by challenging the dominant norms that silence voices. In asking entrants to ‘re-image international development’, GRP-ID intends to bring into the frame people and issues that are traditionally erased from view.

Submission

The competition runs from 2 December 2013 to 31 August 2014. Only images taken during this period are eligible, and only one image per applicant is permitted. All entries must be in JPEG or PNG, include a short caption of no more than 20 words and the applicant’s contact details. Please submit the photograph to grpidphoto at warwick dot ac dot uk by midnight on 31 August 2014 (GMT). The results will be announced by 30 September 2014.

Copyright

While copyright will remain with the photographer, by entering the competition all applicants agree to let GRP-ID use the images on their online and paper communications. GRP-ID will acknowledge copyright when using these images.
