Warwick celebrates the achievements of International Scholars

The University of Warwick has welcomed 242 new outstanding scholars from 55 different countries onto campus at the International Sponsored Student Reception.

The event celebrated the significant achievement of our scholars in securing highly prestigious and competitive scholarships, awarded by the University and international funding bodies.

Chris Twine, Academic Registrar, Councillor Ann Lucas OBE, Deputy Lord Mayor and Mike Shipman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), welcomed our International Scholars.

This is the second time the University has organised a reception event, and this year we had the opportunity to welcome almost 100 more scholars onto campus than last year; a 46% increase in numbers.

Glory Ajayi, our scholar from Nigeria, says:

"Thank you for making my dream come true. Without the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, I wouldn't have been able to study in the UK, now I am reminded truly that that my dreams are valid and the future is bright."

Mana Men, our scholar from Cambodia, says:

"Thank you for equipping me with skills and knowledge so that I can go back to my country and contribute to making my country and the world a better place."

The celebration, hosted by the Student Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Service (SROAS) and Warwick’s Doctoral College, saw Councillor Ann Lucas OBE, Deputy Lord Mayor and Mike Shipman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) formally welcome our new Scholars to the University, followed with a drinks reception.
