Professor Michael Scott will step into the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) from September 1, taking over from Professor Mike Shipman.

Michael will lead Warwick’s international strategy, covering Europe, China, Africa and North America, as well as our relationship with Australia’s Monash University. The development of both new and existing markets for our international student recruitment will be another key area of focus.

Michael is currently the Director of the Warwick Institute of Engagement and a Professor in the Classics and Ancient History Department. He has held Visiting Fellowships in China and the US, as well as taught and conducted research across the globe focused both on the ancient Mediterranean and on ancient global history. He is a popular and highly-respected author as well as regular contributor to national and international media. Prior to his role in the Warwick Institute of Engagement, he co-led the Connecting Cultures GRP and was a member of the Global History and Culture Centre’s steering committee.

He believes passionately in making academic research as accessible as possible to a broad range of audiences, and has written and presented a wide range of television, radio and podcast series for channels in the UK, US and Australia. He was made an Honorary Citizen of Delphi, Greece in recognition of the global impact of his research and engagement.
