Warwick signs Memorandum of Understanding with SSGKC

mou_ssgkuA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed by Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development Co.Ltd (GKC Co) and Warwick. Both parties will collaborate to develop a ground-breaking international education platform and an Education Hub.

The MOU, signed by Warwick’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Lawrence Young and Mr Chin Phei Chen, CEO of GKC Co, will see the partners working closely together on higher education and research, and to engage local institutions for potential partnerships.

The Education Hub will provide international education, innovative development courses, talent development for SSGKC’s knowledge-based industries. The Education Hub will also be a platform for research and development collaboration and exchange between schools and enterprises.

Joint post-graduate training will also take place using interdisciplinary approaches developed at Warwick.

Professor Lawrence Young said:

That the international education platform will prioritise engagement with local students and provide them with opportunities to gain a broader global experience and provide an opportunity for students from both countries to spend 50% of their time in both China and the UK.

The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Stephen Williams, Assistant Director (Partnerships) of the University of Warwick, Mr Sun Liping, Director of Luogang District, Guangzhou Development District (GDD) Education Bureau, Mr Xu Hui, Deputy Director of Knowledge City Administrative Committee Collaboration Office, representatives from GDD Science and Information-Tech Bureau, Investment Promotion Bureau and International Education Research team of the Guangzhou University.
