Prof Tom Montenegro-Johnson appointed as Deputy-Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)
Professor Tom Montenegro-Johnson from Warwick Mathematics Institute, has been appointed as Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research (STEM Impact, Knowledge Exchange and Partnerships).
This role will entail working closely with Research and Impact Services and departmental impact leads to support our STEM REF 2029 impact portfolio submission, provide guidance on departmental engagement strategies, and increase engagement with Business, Industry, and Government across STEM. Tom is particularly keen to reduce barriers to impact and engagement activities and to help foster an impact-positive culture.

About Tom
Tom is an applied mathematician who specialises in modelling complex real-world systems. He works closely with researchers across a broad range of disciplines, as well as colleagues in business, industry, and Government. His research has been supported by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, EPSRC, the ERC, and more recently a Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award. He has a strong focus on impact and engagement. At the University of Birmingham Tom had success as a departmental Impact Lead for REF 2021, and he is currently acting as Director of Engagement for the Centre for Applications of Mathematical and Computing Sciences (CAMaCS) here at Warwick.
