Appointment of new Academic Registrar

Welcome to Adam Child, who has been appointed as new Academic Registrar, joining from February 2023.

Adam started his higher education career at the Higher Education Academy (now Advance HE) shortly after graduating from the University of York. He then spent six years at Lancaster, initially as an Assistant Registrar before moving into a role supporting the Vice-Chancellor and the senior management team. In 2017, Adam moved to Bournemouth University as Head of Academic Quality before becoming Academic Registrar at Surrey in 2020. At Surrey he has responsibilities for quality assurance, academic governance, assessment processes, student records (inclusive of statutory returns and UKVI), programme support, student timetabling, fees and funding, appeals, complaints and discipline.

Adam said:

“I have enormous admiration for the University of Warwick and it is a privilege to join the University as Academic Registrar in February. I am looking forward to meeting my new colleagues and leading the valuable and interesting work of the Education Group, as well as contributing to the wider aims set out in the strategy to 2030. It is clearly an exciting time to be coming to Warwick.”

Rachel Sandby-Thomas, Registrar, said:

“I am delighted that Adam will be joining us in the New Year as our new Academic Registrar, which is a pivotal role in the University. We look forward to working with him and welcoming him into the team.”

Roberta Wooldridge Smith will continue as Interim Academic Registrar until Adam joins Warwick in February 2023.
