Nigel Dimmock: Triathlon World Championships


dimmockNigel Dimmock, an Emeritus Professor in the School of Life Sciences, recently competed at the Triathlon World Championships in London’s Hyde Park. Despite an achilles injury, Nigel was cheered on by the London crowd to be the first home athlete to cross the line in the 70-74 age group, finishing in 8th place. He completed the 750m swim (reduced from 1500m due to the cold conditions), 40km cycle and 10km run in 2hr 39min 13sec.

Nigel is an Emeritus Professor in Virology at the School of Life Sciences, and an international expert on influenza. He trains in the University of Warwick pool and belongs to the Coventry Triathletes club. September's event was Nigel's third World Championship since starting triathlons at the age of 60.
