Name: Keith Gabriel
Job Title: University Marketing Copywriter
Department: External Affairs
Can you tell us a little bit about your role?
I’m a copywriter working in the Marketing Communications team. I help with messaging for various teams and departments across Warwick.
How have you been involved in the Oculus Building project?
I worked with other marketing colleagues to articulate what the building represented.
What do you like best about the building?
How much light it lets in. Unlike some of the other buildings on the campus, there’s no sense of confinement, no hint of claustrophobia. That can only be good for encouraging collaboration between the Oculus’s visitors.
What challenges have you faced in your work on the building?
It’s not exactly easy convincing people how great something is going to look when, for months, it was largely rubble and scaffolding.
Now that it’s open, what’s the next thing you’re working on?
Nowt really. Probably put my feet up, finish my crossword. You did say my line manager would never read this, didn’t you?
