A number of UK universities have again reported that some students have been victims of telephone fraud from someone claiming to be from the UK Border Agency (UKBA).

If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from UKBA instructing you to pay money and threatening deportation if you don’t pay, you should not pay any money or give any personal details to them. Instead, contact the University's International Office on 024 7652 3706 or via email.

The UKBA will never contact you in this manner. No agency, whether the Home Office, the Police, UKBA or any other organisation, will legitimately ask you to pay money in this way to avoid being deported.
