Simon Swain appointed as Vice-President of the British Academy
Congratulations to Simon Swain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) who has been appointed as Vice-President for Research and Higher Education Policy at the British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences. He will take up the role in July.
Commenting on the appointment, Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor, said:
"The Academy’s funding and leadership of the UK’s Humanities and Social Sciences is of the utmost importance for our sector. I am very proud that a Warwick colleague has been appointed to this role and that the Academy has recognized Simon’s experience in national and international engagement and policy alongside his record of outstanding academic achievement.”
Simon said:
"Championing, promoting and funding the Humanities and Social Sciences is more important than ever. It’s a great privilege to work with colleagues at the British Academy to be able to do this.”
Simon will combine his role at the British Academy with part of his current portfolio as PVC at Warwick, taking up the role of Vice-President for National and Regional Engagement from September. International relations and our priority areas of continental Europe, China, South East Asia, Australia and the United States will form a new PVC role to be advertised internally via Insite shortly.
