Pro Vice Chancellor applications (Arts and Social Sciences)

The Council is inviting applications for the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor to work with the Vice-Chancellor and the Provost to provide inspiring and skilful academic leadership across the University. The initial portfolio for this post will be Arts and Social Sciences.

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and President, and a member of the University’s Senior Management Team, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor provides direction, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and the Provost, in a number of key strategic academic areas. Pro-Vice-Chancellors will work closely with the Registrar & Chief Operating Officer and other members of the administrative Senior Officer team.

You will have a distinguished international record of scholarship and research; significant success as a leader of an academic or research area; a strong track record of delivering success within or across departments; proven success at maintaining extensive and productive relations with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to assume a high public profile within the University and beyond.

It is expected that 20% of your time will be devoted to continuing personal research at the highest level. It is also the Vice-Chancellor’s practice to vary the portfolios of Pro-Vice-Chancellors over the period of their term in office.

The role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor is a five year fixed term professorial appointment with the expectation that the post-holder reverts to the underpinning professorial post at the conclusion of the term of office.

Applications should be submitted to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer and must be received no later than Friday 3 January 2014.
