REF 2014 results
The results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise 2014 are published today. The REF is run by the UK’s Higher Education Funding Councils, to assess the quality of UK research and to inform the distribution of public funds for research for the next six years.
In the top 10 again!
The results show that we are the 7th highest placed university in the UK, with no less than 14 academic departments ranked in the UK top 10, and four ranked as number one in the UK in terms of published research.
87% research 3* or 4*
The proportion of our research that is now classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ has risen significantly. Our 4* rated research has risen from 21% to 37% and our 3* rated research has risen from 44% to 50%.
Vice-Chancellor and President, Nigel Thrift said:
This is a wonderful way to begin our 50th anniversary celebrations. This result is the outcome of much hard work and commitment of a great many staff at Warwick, and it confirms our reputation as a world leading research university."
