Students on sponsored sleep-out for homeless charity

Students from Warwick will be giving up their beds for the night and sleeping out in Coventry War Memorial Park next week to raise money for the homeless.

The sleep-out is being organised to raise funds for homeless charity Coventry Cyrenians and 17 members of the Warwick Politics Society will be bedding down on Tuesday 26 February.

Equipped only with sleeping bags, a sandwich and a bottle of water, the students will be in the park from 8pm on Tuesday until 8am on Wednesday morning.

The group is hoping to raise £2,500 for the charity and is urging local people to donate to this worthy cause.

President of the Warwick Politics Society Charlie McKnight, said:

Even if it’s a cold February night, or raining, we’re still only going to be doing this for 12 hours. There are those who don’t have the choice, sleeping outdoors night after night. They’re the people we need to be focussed on so any size donation is valuable.”
