Developing student recruitment and our global strategy

We’re integrating our student recruitment service for home and overseas, bringing together colleagues from SARO and the International Office to help us meet our strategic ambitions. In addition, a new Office for Global Engagement will aim to extend our worldwide reach and reputation; develop our students’ intercultural skills and create an integrated community on campus.

Integrated student recruitment service

From 1 October, there will be an integrated student recruitment service across home and overseas markets to deliver on- and off-campus student recruitment activities. In practical terms, this means the student recruitment team from the International Office will merge with the UK Student Recruitment team in SARO, and will be organised on a regional basis.

In this digital age the differences between the way that we communicate with potential students and their supporters at home and overseas is becoming less marked and it no longer made sense to have teams in separate divisions which essentially do the same work.

The new name for this integrated team will be the Student Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Service (SROAS) which will remain under the direction of Delyth Chambers. Assistant Directors Kim Eccleston (Admissions) and Paul Blagburn (Widening Participation and Outreach) will be joined by a new Assistant Director (Student Recruitment) in due course.

Office for Global Engagement

If we are to achieve our strategic ambition of becoming a truly global institution we will need to continue to extend our worldwide reach and reputation; develop our students’ intercultural skills and create an integrated community on campus. There will therefore be a new Office for Global Engagement with a threefold mission of global reach, global students and global campus. The Office for Global Engagement will work to support the Global Programme Board to set and deliver a robust internationalisation strategy to enable all Warwick staff and students to realise their global ambitions.

James Kennedy is the Director of the Office for Global Engagement, supported by Stephen Williams, Head of Global Partnerships; Helen Johnson, Head of Study Abroad and Claire O’Leary, Head of Student Experience.
