Colleagues are welcome to enter the Social Sciences building briefly to collect essential personal/work items this afternoon. Please contact the Campus Security gatehouse between 2pm and 4pm on x22083 if you wish to do this and members of the Campus Security team will accompany you.

Update 12:30

Power is expected to be restored to the Social Sciences building this afternoon, but unfortunately the entire building will not be operational for the rest of Tuesday 13 February.

We are working on a solution to enable people to enter the buildings briefly to collect their belongings, and will let you know when this is in place.

The building is currently expected to be open as usual from Wednesday morning. We will post updates here as they become available.

Specialist fire safety and estates teams have worked overnight to investigate the power outages in Social Sciences resulting from a small electrical fire in the Arts Centre yesterday. On their assessment, the entire building will now need to remain closed until at least midday on Tuesday 13 February 2018.

Staff affected are asked to check emails for further information from their department.

Students are advised to check their emails and departmental websites for further information about specific timetabled sessions.

Further updates are expected to be available after 11am.
