Summer festivities 2013

This summer sees a host of events taking place in the local area - from festivals to carnivals and music to food, and lots of free and ticketless entertainment on offer. Read on to see what you can enjoy in the area this summer...

Friday 5, Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 July:
The UK Corporate Games, Europe’s largest annual multi-sport festival for businesses and organisations, takes place from 4-7 July with a wide range of the sports taking place at Warwick. Campus will be very busy as 4000 to 5000 competitors will visit Warwick with over 1500 of them staying on campus and 140 Warwick staff competing for the University.
Friday 5, Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 July:
For over 15 years, The Godiva Festival, held in Coventry’s War Memorial Park has maintained its place as one of the biggest and best FREE, TICKETLESS family festivals in the country. The headline acts have been announced, and the line-ups across the whole of the three days promise to keep the massed crowds entertained.
Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 July:
Enjoy boat loads of fun at this year's Stratford-upon-Avon River Festival which takes place from 6th -7th July

The eclectic programme for the free event features an illuminated boat parade and fireworks display

Saturday 6 July:

Kenilworth Carnival is one of the biggest and most successful in the area, bringing the town together for a day of fun whilst raising money for local charities for more than 75 years. This year's colourful procession will set off from the Castle at 1pm, parading around the town before ending beside the Abbey Fields. Entertainment will be provided on the Abbey Fields Plateau between 3 and 5pm, and there will also be a funfair.

Wednesday 3 to Saturday 13 July:

Allesley Village is in the North West of Coventry and is a beautiful village community. With stunning historic buildings and beautiful countryside, Allesley is one of the most attractive and appealing parts of Coventry. Every year the Allesley Festival is held in the village and has been running for over 35 years. The festival features things such as Wine tasting, live music, family runs and games, charity auctions and garden walks, plus a lot more.

Thursday 25 & Sunday 28 July:
Warwick Folk Festival attracts thousands of visitors every year for a weekend of traditional and contemporary folk arts. Alongside the main events held at Warwick School there is a wide range of free entertainment held throughout Warwick town centre, including concerts, Ceilidhs, dance, song, workshops, theatre, crafts and a Street Festival.
Friday 26 & Saturday 27 July:
GlobalGathering has become the undisputed heavyweight champion of electronic music festivals. More than 80,000 festival goers and party people descend on Long Marston Airfield in Stratford-upon-Avon over the weekend to rock their socks off to every genre of electronic music including live acts, house, trance, techno at the UK's Biggest Ever Dance Weekender, with 100 artists playing the sixteen stages, arena and terraces delivering an unforgettable music marathon.
Saturday 10 August:
Imagineer Production’s Godiva will make her triumphant return to her home town of Coventry aboard her Cyclopedia with a cavalcade of cyclists joining her on Coventry’s iconic ring road. Join Godiva as she enjoys a day of street theatre performances, get on your bike and take part in the cycling events and find out about Godiva’s adventures en route to London as part of the Olympic Games.
Sunday 11 August:
This Traditional Country Show, probably the longest running in Warwickshire, attracts many visitors for a fun packed day out.
There are a number of Trade Stands, Fairground Rides and Stalls within the grounds offering a varied selection of goods and services.
Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 August:
A two day celebration of everything to do with the city's unique transport heritage – incorporating a spectacular historic vehicle run through the Warwickshire countryside as well as a whole range of events and activities throughout the weekend. A classic motoring event for the whole family to enjoy. This year's new programme at the location of Stoneleigh Park is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet.
Thursday 29 August:
This community celebration in the form of a walk/cycle ride and Afternoon Tea which will take place on Thursday 29 August 2013 from 3pm – 6pm at the University's Cryfield Pavilion.
Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 September:
The highly popular Leamington Food & Drink Festival returns this year in the Royal Pump Room Gardens. The Festival, which is FREE to attend, will yet again feature an exciting action-packed programme over the two days. Attracting over 20,000 visitors, it is set to be a fabulous, fun filled weekend of activities and entertainment that will have everyone’s taste buds tingling and feet tapping.
