Typhoon Haiyun appeal - Thank you

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all University of Warwick staff who so generously contributed to the recent Typhoon Haiyun clothes collection.

We collected 82 bags of clothes, food and other items. A special thank you to Rachel Harrington who organised a very successful collection in the Department of Physics.

Donations have been sorted by the New Heights Community Project (NHCP)/Filipino Association of Birmingham with some being despatched by air and some being shipped.

All the free and discounted cargo space donated to the NHCP has now been used. Some items will therefore be used for fund raising efforts in the UK to pay freight costs for priority goods for the recovery phase of the relief effort.

This phase is expected to be prolonged as housing and infrastructure has been devastated, farmland has been rendered useless by sea water and fishing boats destroyed. Please continue to give generously to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Appeal.

Well done and thank you to all those who donated to the collection and thanks to the University of Warwick for making this collection possible."
