UCU industrial action: update 12 November 2019

The University and College Union (UCU) has announced that its members have voted to take industrial action, commencing Monday 25 November 2019.

There are 8 potential days of strike action:

  • Monday 25, Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November
  • Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 December.

Action short of a strike will also begin on 25 November 2019.

Over the coming weeks, there will be further information for staff and students on what the University is seeking to put in place to ensure continued academic progression and a positive student experience for all our students during this period.

There will also be guidance for heads of academic and service departments on managing departmental commitments, and guidance and procedures for individuals planning to undertake strike action and action short of a strike.

Background

Fuller details on these matters can be found on the UCU and Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) websites.

As Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor, Stuart Croft has continued to work directly with UCU, UCEA and Universities UK, and has also shared his views publicly on the Vice-Chancellor's blog.

The focus of the University’s attention during this industrial action will be on student progression and the student experience.
