Update on UCU ballots for industrial action
The University has received the result of the recent UCU ballot on the USS pensions proposals. The number of votes cast at Warwick did not meet the minimum 50% threshold for action, and so UCU members cannot take industrial action or action short of strike at Warwick on this matter. There will be industrial action at some other universities following local ballot results.
As colleagues may be aware, UCU has also balloted its members on pay and conditions. We have not yet received the result of this ballot and expect it later today (Friday 5 November).
We will share more information when we have it. In the meantime, you may wish to see the Vice-Chancellor’s message on USS reform and the impact on students of any industrial action, published in October 2021, the full breakdown of the UCU USS dispute ballot results, and the response from Universities UK on behalf of higher education employers.
