Whether you’re a member of staff or a student, interested in a weekly activity or one-off event, Warwick Volunteers has a range of opportunities to get involved with. Volunteering can provide a fun way of developing skills, meeting new people and boosting work experience.
Over 1,000 students and staff attended the Volunteering Fair earlier in October, browsing 44 stalls run by local charities and student Project Leaders. If you were not able to attend, you can still get involved.
Volunteering in schools
From providing tutoring support in the classroom to running fun extra-curricular activities, there are lots of opportunities to volunteer in primary, secondary and special educational needs schools in Coventry, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth. The projects enable volunteers to make a significant contribution to the education of young people and act as positive role models, whilst having fun.
You could help at a club befriending adults with disabilities; translate learning materials for people in developing countries or help at a night shelter for the homeless.
As well as opportunities to lead existing projects Warwick Volunteers can support you to develop and run your own project. Each year, members of Warwick Volunteers develop new projects that will make a difference to the community. We can support you and provide training to turn your idea into reality.
Short term volunteering
Even if you’re short of time, you can still get involved with Warwick Volunteers. Our short term projects such as painting a mural, planting bulbs, performing at an event run for the local community, are advertised throughout the year, giving you the chance to join in without having to make a big commitment. It’s a chance to try something new, or simply fit some volunteering into your busy life.
Interested in organising a team building volunteering event for your department? Warwick Volunteers can assist in establishing contact with local community organisations and schools, and provide advice on successful forms of community engagement. Visit the staff volunteering page to find out more.
