Women in Academia workshop

Despite significant progress in recent years, there remains a gender imbalance in the academy at Warwick – and elsewhere – particularly at the most senior levels. The University Council is taking a close interest in this matter and the Pro-Chancellor and Deputy Head of Council, Viki Cooke, is facilitating a workshop in February designed to construct ideas about what can be done to improve matters at Warwick in both the short and the long term.

We are looking for up to 24 participants to take part in this workshop, drawn from those who are currently Assistant, Associate or full Professors in an academic department at Warwick. Ideally, we are seeking a diverse group with differing levels of experience and discipline – the key requirement being your willingness to share your observations and ideas.

We have invited speakers from both inside and outside the University to contribute to the event and the Vice-Chancellor and President elect, Professor Stuart Croft, will be present to hear the conclusions and recommendations.

If you are interested in taking part, please submit a very short note (200 words maximum) to me at p dot a dot thomas at warwick dot ac dot uk by 9 January 2016, explaining what you would hope to achieve by attending the event.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Pam Thomas
