World Cup fever on the Piazza

footballAround 2,000 staff, students and our wider community joined in the World Cup celebrations yesterday to watch the England v Uruquay match on the big screen. The atmosphere, throughout the evening, as with the other matches, was fantastic with students also celebrating the end of exams in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere - even stopping to recycle litter as they they left the Piazza after the match!

The social media conversations around the screen with pictures being shown on the big screen during breaks even resulted in #bigscreenpiazza trending in the UK last night.
