Professor David Firth, Head of the Department of Statistics, is to receive the 2012 Guy Medal in Silver, awarded annually by the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) for outstanding published research.

Professor Robert MacKay from the Mathematics Institute has been awarded a grant of $561,672 from The Alfred P Sloan Foundation. The project will look at the 'Management of complex systems' for a two year period beginning 1 January 2012.

Warwick Ventures Limited has appointed Kevin Marks as its new Chief Operations Officer.

Kevin, who joined Warwick Ventures as a Business Development Manager (BDM) in 2009, will be responsible for managing the company’s team of BDMs and will oversee all major contracts negotiated by Warwick Ventures.
