Warwick's Poetry Success

Last month saw three major national literary awards go to members of the Warwick Writing Programme.

Two English Literature and Creative Writing graduates, James Brookes and Swithun Cooper won major Eric Gregory Awards for Poetry. The Gregory Award is given each year to the four best young poets in the UK under the age of 30. This means that the University has won no less than ten Gregory awards in the last decade.

Warwick Medical School Dean Professor Yvonne Carter to Retire

Dean of Warwick Medical School and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Regional Engagement Professor Yvonne Carter is to take early retirement. Professor Carter, who has been with the University for six years, will step down at the end of the month due to ill health.

Awards for Warwick in Queen's Birthday Honours list

Dean of Warwick Medical School Professor Yvonne Carter, Associate Clinical Professor Dr Roger Gadsby and Keith Bedell-Pearce, a member of Warwick Business School’s Advisory Board have all been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

New IAS Director - Professor Hilary Marland

The next Director of the Institute of Advanced Study has been announced as Professor Hilary Marland.

Hilary is Professor of History at Warwick and was Director of the Centre for the History of Medicine from its establishment in 1999 to 2008. She has served as the Principal Investigator on two successive Wellcome Trust Strategic Awards for the History of Medicine (2003, 2008), as well as several project grants.
