Professor Jane Hutton, Department of Statistics, along with former PhD Student Judith Anzures-Cabrera has been awarded the Gopal Kanji Prize by the Journal of Applied Statistics.

Professor Derek Chetwynd, School of Engineering, was presented with a Distinguished Service Award by the President of the European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology (euspen) during a plenary session of its Annual Conference and General Meeting in Como, Italy. It is only the second time that the Society has made such an award.

Dr Claire Foullon, Centre for Fusion, Space & Astrophysics, Department of Physics, has won a 5-year STFC Advanced Fellowship.

The University is sad to announce the death of Dr Chris Mace, an associate professor in the department of Psychology at the University who died in November 2010 after a short illness.

Professor Patrick Unwin, Department of Chemistry has been made a Fellow of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE). This award comes in recognition of the outstanding contributions Professor Unwin has made to the field of electrochemistry throughout his career.
